Meet Joshua Schoonover:

Joshua Schoonover is a Patent Attorney and conservative Republican Candidate for Representative of the 49th Congressional District (includes: Del Mar, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Vista, Oceanside, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point).

First and foremost, Joshua is a proud husband and father, and he knows what is most important to everyone in this District -our families! (Joshua is pictured with his wife Erika & daughter Annika).

In addition to being a lawyer, Joshua holds an undergraduate degree in chemical physics and a minor in mathematics. He is a serial inventor, and a scientist/engineer.

Joshua is a proud Eagle Scout and active citizen of his community.

He loves surfing, and regularly surfs many breaks in the 49th District, from 11th street in Del Mar, to Pipes in Cardiff, Oceanside pier, lower Trestles and Salt Creek.

A former NASCAR driver, and an OHV enthusiast, Joshua likes anything with a motor. On Saturdays he can be found cruisin’ his 1952 Dodge truck in Encinitas, or having eggs & acai bowls with his family at a beach cafe.

During the week, he assists clients with government issues, such as procuring patent rights and trademark registrations from the United States Patent & Trademark Office, an agency under the U.S. Department of Commerce. In his job, Joshua is tasked with reading volumes of law, studying the impact of the law on individuals and businesses and articulating the law and its impact to his clients. He negotiates deals with the government and amends legal writings before governmental agencies. In fact, Joshua has logged over 20,000 hours doing these things (40 hours per week over 10 years), making him an expert according to the 10,000 Hour Rule!

Since Joshua works to help individuals and businesses with Federal government issues, and because he reads, drafts and negotiates Federal law and Federal rights, he is the most qualified, and has the most relevant experience of all candidates on the ballot!

Now, in these divisive times, the activist left is becoming more aggressive, and even violent. Protests at Darrell Issa’s office might have inspired or assisted with his decision to not run for re-election. Not many are capable of dealing with such an invasive and distracting force. We, as Republicans, need a Representative who is young, strong, energetic, and able to deflect the intimidation tactics of the activist-left. While age can bring wisdom, it also brings frailty. We need fresh young talent in Congress, and Joshua is the best candidate to lead us forward!

As a true “conservative”, Joshua believes in: (i) individual freedom; (ii) personal accountability; (iii) low taxes; (iv) small government; and (v) a strong military.

While officially a Republican, Joshua is moderate with respect to many social issues, including: Education / Federal Student Aid, Same-Sex Marriage, and Cannabis regulation. It is important to invest in people by providing access to quality education, and it is possible to abstain from things personally while respecting the freedom and liberty of others.

We invite you to learn more about his positions on the issues, and to meet Joshua at one of his upcoming events.

Joshua appreciates your support and vote in the upcoming June 5, 2018 Primary Election!

Why I Am Running For Congress.

I want to restore the people‚Äôs confidence in their congressional representative. Congress is broken! President Trump’s promise to “Drain the Swamp” strongly resonated with many Americans in the prior election, including myself. We need to rid Congress of career politicians and the excessive influence and control exercised by special interests. The 49th District needs a representative that is smart, energetic …
